Affordable Purchase

The 51 new homes at Shanganagh Castle Estate are being offered to new purchasers under the ‘Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme’.

Under the scheme, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is making new homes available to eligible applicants, who are seeking to purchase a newly built home, but require additional funding to bridge the gap between their mortgage and deposit and the cost of the home.

In return, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will take a percentage equity share (share of the ownership) in the Affordable Purchase home. The Council’s equity share will be equal to the difference between the open market value of the property and the affordable price paid by the purchaser.
